UPCC in UPCMu's 100 Years of World Class Music

100 Years of World Class Music

The UP Alumni Association will highlight great Philippine and International music to highlight the artistic and musical contributions of the UP Conservatory of Music in a grand musical event entitled "100 Years of World Class Music."

The November 21 musical event will also honor some of its most distinguished alumni and world-class choral groups.

To be cited is Evelyn Mandac, a magna cum laude graduate of the Conservatory anda campus personality. Ms. Mandac took advanced studies in Juilliard in the mid-1960s before she pursued a memorable career in opera in the United States . In her illustrious career, she has sung opposite world-famous singers like Placido Domingo and Joan Sutherland, and performed in prestigious musical festivals and concert halls.

Also to be cited is Noel Velasco who after capturing the Pavarotti Award pursued an international musical career as an opera and concert singer and teacher.

The Conservatory of Music is privileged to have National Artists in Music among its esteemed faculty. This impressive list includes composers Antonio Molina, Lucio San Pedro, Jose Maceda, Felipe de Leon and choral conductor Andrea O. Veneracion.

Also to be cited are choral founders Rey Paguio and Flora Zarco Rivera who founded the UP Concert Chorus and the UP Cherubim & Seraphim.

Young alumni of the Conservatory will perform their beloved creations as well as other Philipipne and international musical and vocal masterpieces.

Among the performers are Camille Lopez Molina, Nolyn Cabahug, Dondi Ong, Ana Feleo, Aileen Cura, Jean Vicar, Enlyn Santos, Josef Olfindo, Eric Ferrrer as well as former violin prodigy Joseph Esmilla, acclaimed flutist Tony Maigue and classical guitarist Lester Demetillo.

Choral numbers will be rendered by internationally- awarded choirs of the University such as the Philippine Madrigal Singers, the UP Concert Chorus, the UP Singing Ambassadors and the UP Cherubim & Seraphim. Also participating is the UP Manila Chorale. The four choirs will surround the venue to render the grand finale.
